UPCOMING EVENTS

Learning to Tend Grief Series
(In-person & online option)
Jen George and Micaela Musterer of Deeper Currents have two concurrent grief series beginning in September.
You’re invited to join a co-created grief support circle to explore, express and be in community around grief. We experience so many waves of grief (big and small) throughout our lives yet we live in a culture that teaches us to hide our grief and sorrow. The hidden message we receive is that our grief isn't welcome in community spaces or even in our most intimate relationships. It can feel radical to gather in community to explore grief’s edges, yet many have a longing to not do it alone.
This stirs the inquiry:
How do we tend to our grief?
Why is it helpful to do so in community?
This 12-week container (meeting for 6 sessions within the 12 weeks) was intentionally designed for those who are unfamiliar with turning toward their own grief in more creative ways and/or in community. There are ancient, more connected ways to be with our grief than what we were taught. In this series we will gather to discuss and explore simple and gentle ways to be with our personal and collective grief.
In our culture it’s common to think this may not apply to you if you haven’t experienced a close death or had a major life transition (divorce, move, job loss, etc) but we will expand on honoring the places grief regularly arises:
Grief around current world affairs
Grief that you can’t name but is deeply felt
Grief around climate collapse
Collective grief
Ancestral grief
The list goes on and on. If you’re noticing curiosity arise or a stirring inside that you recognize as resonance, we invite you to join us.
When we gather and share our unfiltered life stories, we start to create new ways to be in community. Often we realize how similar our stories are and recognize that we aren’t as alone in this world as we thought or felt. This is a place to see each other and be seen, to be heard and held in your truth.

Community Grief Lodge
Hosted by Jen George, Micaela Musterer and Brian "Yam" Dwyer
Sunday, September 21st | 2-7pm
Sunday, November 2nd | 2-7pm
Please join us (Micaela Musterer, Jen George and Brian "Yam" Dwyer) in community for an afternoon of circling, singing, sharing, and sacred co-created ritual. Whether you are new to grieving with others or are familiar with the practice of tending grief, Community Grief Lodge offers the local community a space to tend to the many forms of grief that we hold inside us.
Whatever you’re carrying, you don’t have to carry it alone.
WHAT IS IT?
Community Grief Lodge is a land-based, community-fed relational and musical healing space. In this ritual container we welcome in the multi-faceted expressions of grief, joy, anger, desire, fear, longing — emotions that are so often suppressed and stuck in our bodies — to be honored, expressed and tenderly held by others. No need to be ‘experienced’ in the ways of ritual, rhythm and music, or ‘good’ at grief-tending to participate— this space is open to anyone who feels called to explore and express the depths of their humanness, together.
WHY IS IT HAPPENING?
Community Grief Lodge is a space to explore the waters of collective depth, attunement and belonging, together. For many of us, life throws curve balls our way when we least expect it. Our schemes fail. Our plans fall through. Our dreams fade and our wishes seem to go unanswered. Our life, inevitably, finds itself changing. When these things happen we can sometimes feel sad, distracted, weighed down, at a loss, or impacted by major (and sometimes especially minor) life-shifts. But what if we could be held with compassion and courage in the rawness and fullness of our experience, and invited to give ourselves permission to share the bigness of whatever it is? How would it feel to be witnessed, listened to and supported in a collective way no matter what you’re going through?
In the words of one of our facilitators, Micaela Musterer, “...What feels really important to Jen and myself [with Community Grief Lodge] is that we cultivate a space where people can just be in their shit, without having any pressure or expectation or promise that it should be, could be or will be something else.”
As a team of facilitators and friends, we have each gleaned through our own direct experience how much inner-strength, resilience and generative beauty can be cultivated through returning to collective grief spaces time and time again. It’s one of the many reasons we have called this container into being: because we ourselves need it, and have found it to be beneficial in our lives and our communities. To us, collective grief tending feels like practicing basic sanity - a standard exercise in collective heart & soul maintenance.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT?
Expect tears, laughs, tender heartache and healing attention. Expect to feel things. Expect realness and encouragement to be exactly where you are without expectations to be changed or fixed. The totality of who you are is welcome here. This invitation is one that asks you to sense into this healing, life-giving culture of Village that many of us have not yet experienced, but remember somewhere deep inside our bones and are longing for. We don’t have the answers. We are simply answering the call of our hearts, and inviting others to answer theirs with us.
LINEAGE OF TEACHERS
The style of grief ritual in this container is informed by - but not a direct descendant of - the teachings and offerings of Malidoma Patrice Somé, Sobonfu Somé, The Dagara People of Burkina Faso, West Africa, Resmaa Menakem, Francis Weller, Joanna Macy, Martín Prechtel, Laurence Cole, Thérèse Charvet, Tere Carranza, Collin Brown, and others. We give thanks and praise to each of them for their ongoing guidance, and recognize that none of what we are offering would be possible without their vital contributions to the world of grief-tending.

How ancient postpartum traditions throughout the world all share deep common roots. These traditional “prescriptions” all point to the importance of an extended resting period, warmth, specific foods, bodywork, and community support after birth. These traditions also teach that how mother is cared for in the postpartum time will be reflected in her lifelong health and menopause. These common threads in ALL traditional ways of caring for a postpartum mother reflect one another because they are rooted in physiology. We will explore every “prescription” in depth together.
The “WHY” behind postpartum care. When we understand “why” we do something, we understand the purpose of it so we can begin to place value on postpartum care. This ‘WHY’ has been largely forgotten in modern culture. We can shift from the dominant cultural paradigm of “postpartum care is a luxury” to “postpartum care is a necessity.”
About the profound changes that occur through the childbearing continuum; understanding the implications of physiologic appropriate postpartum care- for women’s life-long health.

Other family members who will be supporting mother during the postpartum time are also encouraged to attend— additional family members cost $185.

Body Intelligence Training offers a 2 year practitioner course in Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy in Bellingham, Washington for existing health professionals considering adding a new modality to their work as well as individuals wanting to start a career in an exciting and evolving therapy.
Seminar 5 explores how we develop in utero and the prenatal conditions for health. Craniosacral therapy can form a relationship to these early forces and facilitate a re-ordering of early affects. Looks at the process of birth and how the body shapes itself in response to this unique event.
Pre-natal experience and the psyche
Cranial base patterns and their resonance
Whole body birth shapes and posture
Understanding entrainment
Ignition processes
Attachment and bonding body affects
Relating to the transpersonal
Pacing and containment
Practice development: developing trust in body intelligence, diagnosing health and assessing change
You will learn how to:
Work with the vault hold (Sutherland’s hold) and modified vault hold (Becker’s hold) to explore cranial distortions.
Work with whole body shapes and patterns, exploring links to the cranial base and perinatal events.
Orient to the cranium as a fluid membrane bag, appreciating the effect of birth stages in distorting the fluid filled bag that is the baby’s cranium
Start to get a sense of compression, side-bending and torsion patterns.(physiological strain patterns of SBJ)
Start to get a sense of lateral and vertical shear patterns of the cranial base (non-physiological strain patterns of SBJ)
Deepen your appreciation of Long Tide through relationship to a ‘horizontal’ perceptual field
Deepen skills around facilitating resources, presence and understanding pacing and containment

Body Intelligence BCST Training - Seminar 4: Craniopelvic Resonance (Copy)

Seminar 4 explores primary respiration around cranial and pelvic bones. Looks at how the two poles of the midline mirror each other and create health when there is synchrony.
Explores primary respiration around cranial and pelvic bones. Looks at how the two poles of the midline mirror each other and create health when there is synchrony.
Mobility and motility of cranial vault and pelvic bones
Patterns of experience
Specific resonances
Bipolar contact
Integration and resourcing
Bony-membranous expressions
Core-periphery resonance: midline and limbs
Practice development: structure of a treatment session, treatment processes, safety in practice
You will learn how to:
Start to recognize how bones feel and express healthy motion
Recognize how the health of the Reciprocal Tension Membranes affects the bones of the midline.
Feel whole body patterns through craniopelvic resonance.
Recognize how the falx and tentorium are key structures for healthy motion of the vault bones.
Learn to listen to the dural tube as the core link between the pelvis and cranium.

Systemic Family Constellations Gathering Series
Come join us for a series Family Constellations. Please RSVP to Andie at humandevelopmentcenter1008@gmail.com to secure your spot.
Research from the past two decades now sheds new light on how the unresolved traumas of ancestors could be discovered in the symptoms and struggles of family members born generations later. The legacy of traumatic inheritance is often unconscious, operating below the surface of our awareness yet influencing our health, well-being, and relationships in substantial ways.
A Family Constellation can illuminate hidden dynamics and unconscious family loyalties that contribute to depression, anxiety, physical symptoms, strained relationships, and financial struggle. In a safe and contained group setting, long standing family patterns, many of them originating from past trauma provide a broader context for working with current difficulties. In some instances, discovering the origin of an inherited family pattern is enough to begin easing the grip it has on our present life. In other instances, a new image, belief, understanding or re-organization of a previously held pattern offers promise for a new way forward.
In this workshop the time-honored wisdoms of Bert Hellinger’s teachings on Family Constellation Work will guide us through both small and large group explorations, constellations and mini lectures. The complimentary disciplines of Attachment Science, Birth Psychology, Epigenetics, Field Theory and Morphogenic Resonance will be included as we explore the significant and formative “relational spaces” between ourselves and others. The primary focus of the workshop is to promote greater awareness, understanding and harmony in our relationships as intimate partners, former partners, grandparents, parents, children, step parents, mothers and fathers in law and friends.
For those of you new to this 'work/field'
There are a few details about how the field of this work operates that may be useful for you to understand. I've quoted one of my teachers here as she sums up some of these basics very clearly.
"A sacred space is created where deep (often unspoken) truths about our families are acknowledged and honored.
Participants describe an issue or problem they want to solve along with some factual information about their family. A simple description of what they know about the family (even if that is not much) and what they experience as the problem is enough information. They choose workshop participants to represent themselves and family members, living or dead, and physically place the chosen representatives in relationship to each other according to their heartfelt inner image of their family system. This creates an energy field in which the representatives experience physical sensations, emotions, and thoughts related to the family member they represent.
Constellations look like a living tree or genogram. The experience is not role-playing. Representatives simply report what they experience. We carry our families with us like a hologram. In the workshops, we externalize an aspect of the hologram and, for a brief moment, have a glimpse into deeply unconscious patterns in the system.
The workshop leader facilitates an unfolding process where painful losses, information treated as family secrets, and previously unseen connections are revealed and honored. Once the unconscious system is revealed, it can be restructured into a more balanced system where love and energy flow freely as experienced by the people representing family members. Participants leave with a more nourishing family picture that inspires freedom, clarity, and love." Lisa Iversen
